Can I move my scanner to another PC?

v3.xx of the Scan and Pin software allows you to move the scanner to another PC if you so wish. Simple follow the installation instructions, use the default key when installing the Digital Persona drivers and copy the LICENCE.TXT file from the original installation directory to the new PC. You can also move the encrypted database from the original location to the the PC.

Migration from Windows XP to Windows 7 or or Windows 8

The installation directory on the old PC is normally c:\program files\scan and pin\database\

Scan and Pin v3+ uses a new database schema.
If you are moving Scan and Pin from XP to Windows 7 and want to use your old database, you will need to follow these instructions:-

1. Ensure you have a backup of your existing installation!!
2. You will need to exit any running Scan and Pin installation to continue on either machine.
3. Ensure you have the correct fingerprint scanner drives installed (32bit or 64 bit) on the new PC.
