End of Life for v3

From the 1st April 2015, we shall no longer support v3 and earlier versions of the Scan and Pin software.  Continued support for v4 will remain.

Customers who have purchased earlier versions of the software will no longer be entitled to a free upgrade from today.  To take advantage of the benefits and features included in v4, customers are advised to purchase the latest version and the database upgrade support to use their old database with v4.

Scan and Pin is not supported on Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, but is continued for older platforms up to and including all 32bit and 64bit versions of Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows XP and Windows Server 2003/2008.

Backup Your Database

Scan and Pin uses a local database for storing encrypted data. You should schedule a routine to backup this data regularly.

To begin, you can choose to backup the entire installation folder or just the database folder. 
These are stored in c:\program files\scan and pin (or your install path).

Copy the entire contents to a ZIP file or USB / Network drive and date the folder. The copy should be on a different physical medium than the original, for example a different hard disk or computer.

Ensuring you backup your data will make it simple to re-install should the worst happen.  

Can I move my scanner to another PC?

v3.xx of the Scan and Pin software allows you to move the scanner to another PC if you so wish. Simple follow the installation instructions, use the default key when installing the Digital Persona drivers and copy the LICENCE.TXT file from the original installation directory to the new PC. You can also move the encrypted database from the original location to the the PC. 

Windows 8.1 Support

We are aware of an issue with Scan and Pin that means it will not run on Windows 8.1. We will not at the current time be releasing any new versions of the software to work with Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 at this time.

We ask customers wishing to purchase Scan and Pin to check the version of Windows they are running prior to purchase.
